Stockdale Center

General Policies

  • Skateboards, roller blades, and skates are not permitted inside the Stockdale Center.
  • Skateboarding is not permitted on the terrace in front of the Stockdale Center. Recreational activities, such as frisbee and hackeysack, are not permitted inside the Stockdale Center.
  • The use of candles or other lighted objects is generally not permitted. Exceptions to this policy may be granted from Associate Dean of Students.
  • Only student organizations registered with the Greek Life, Leadership and Involvement Center are allowed to reserve College facilities.
  • Sound equipment must not disrupt normal functions of the college, including academic buildings, the residence halls or the surrounding community. Band functions and/or functions involving the amplification of music are restricted, with exception approved by the Associate Dean of Students & Director of Campus Events.
  • Outdoor dances and concerts must have prior approval of the Associate Dean of Students & Director of Campus Events. Other special events such as pep rallies, ceremonies, or recreational activities which include the use of bands and/or amplification equipment may be held in approved locations only with prior approval the Associate Dean of Students & Director of Campus Events.

Banners

  • Banners in the Stockdale Center are restricted to campus activities and/or Monmouth College related functions, except during an off-campus group conference.
  • The Stockdale Center office must approve banners.
  • Campus groups may hang one banner per event, and all banners should have the name or logo on the banner.
  • Banners are restricted to walls in the lower level of the Stockdale Center.
  • General information banners may be hung for a maximum of 14 days. Date specific banners will be removed 48 hours after the advertised event date.
  • Set-up and removal of banners is the sole responsibility of the group. The banner area is checked daily, and banners will be removed and discarded as needed to comply with this policy.
  • Hints for a good banner: Use bright colors and make lettering large; use stencils if possible; avoid brown paper.

Poster

  • When posting signs, posters or miscellaneous materials in the Stockdale Center, please follow these instructions:
  • The Stockdale Center office must approve all materials. Any signs posted without the Stockdale Center Approved stamp will be removed.
  • All materials must be either located on a bulletin board or concrete block walls. No materials may be posted on painted walls.
  • No materials may be posted on the glass of the front or main dining room doors.
  • The Stockdale Center will only approve items to be posted which are materials from recognized campus groups, departments, and local businesses. No advertisements for alcoholic beverages or parties will be approved.
  • Other materials may be approved at the discretion of the Associate Dean of Students.
  • All materials will be reviewed for appropriate content and photos.
  • Designated boards are not to be used for general posting, i.e.: Wackerele Center, Greek Life, Leadership and Involvement Center, and Chaplain's Office.
  • Special consiterations for posting locations may be made by approval of the Stockdale Center office.
  • Only masking tape is permitted to post materials. No scotch tape.
  • Any materials posted on surfaces other than bulletin boards or concrete block will be removed.
  • Please be considerate of other items posted and do not post over them.

Whiteman-McMillan Highlander Room

This room is designed for larger groups, generally 45 or more, for meetings, lectures, meals, receptions, programs, etc.

  • Tables available:
    • Round tables seating for 98, 7 per table
    • Rectangle table seating for 136, 8 per table
  • Podium and microphone available upon request.
  • Audio-visual equipment is also available.
  • Chair set lecture style: 200 maximum capacity
  • All served/buffet meal reservations require a one-hour before and after maintenance preparation time.
  • Events booked back to back are required to use the same setup. The Stockdale Center staff will work with each group to come to an agreeable setup for both groups.
  • Only masking tape can be used to display items on the walls.
  • Room reservations, with or without a carry tray lunch, that are requested on a weekly or individual basis over the lunch or dinner hours are subject to relocation if a reservation including a served/buffet meal is requested for the same location.
  • Off-campus groups will not be subject to relocation.
  • Please refer to the Food Serivce Guidelines for making meal arrangements.

Private Dining Room

Located on the main level of the Stockdale Center. This room is designed for smaller groups, 40 or less, for elegant dining, served or buffet meals.

  • Tables available: individual square tables seating 4 each for a total of 40.
  • Tables may be rearranged to accommodate one larger table for up to 20 people.
  • Audio-visual equipment is also available.
  • No items may be taped to the walls.
  • All served/buffet meal reservations require a one-hour before and after maintenance preparation time.
  • Room reservations, with or without a carry tray lunch, that are requested on a weekly or individual basis over the lunch or dinner hours are subject to relocation if a reservation including a served/buffet meal is requested for the same location.
  • Off-campus groups will not be subject to relocation.
  • Please refer to the Food Service Guidelines for making meal arrangements.

Scotland Yard

This room is located in the lower level adjacent to the Tartan Room with a food court setting. Seating available up to 100.

  • Tables are scattered throughout the room. Round, square and rectangle tables and booth seating options.
  • Audio/visual equipment is available for this space.
  • A small stage positioned on the East wall allows for a small entertainment space.
  • Vending and food court stations will not be open for events scheduled after regular hours unless prior arrangments have been made with ARAMARK Food Services.
  • Off-campus groups will not be subject to relocation.
  • Please refer to the Food Service Guildelines for making meal arrangements.
  • All served/buffet meal reservations require a one-hour before and after maintenance preparation time.
  • Room reservations, with or without a carry tray lunch, that are requested on a weekly or individual basis over the lunch or dinner hours are subject to relocation if a reservation including a buffet or served meal is requested for the same location.

Tartan Room

This room is located in the lower level, adjacent to Scotland Yard, with an informal dining setting for a smaller group, 40 or less.

  • Tables are generally arranged in a square for 20. Tables can also be individually arranged to accommodate up to 40.
  • All served/buffet meal reservations require a one-hour before and after maintenance preparation time.
  • Audio-visual equipment is also available.
  • Room reservations, with or without a carry tray lunch, that are requested on a weekly or individual basis over the lunch or dinner hours are subject to relocation if a reservation including a served/buffet meal is requested for the same location.
  • Off-campus groups will not be subject to relocation.
