Program Requirements

Requirements for the Classics Major:

Students interested in the Classics Major must complete 8 courses in Classics, Latin, or Greek.

  • CLAS 200: Introduction to Classical Studies
  • CLAS 201: Classics Seminar

At least .5 course credit of Latin or Greek at the 102 level or higher is also required.

Requirements for the Classics Minor:

Students interested in the Classics Minor must complete the following, as well as 4 courses in Classics, Latin, or Greek.

  • CLAS 200: Introduction to Classical Studies

Highly recommended courses:

  • CLAS 211: History of Greece
  • CLAS 212: History of Rome
  • CLAS 230: Classical Mythology

Requirements for the Greek Major:

Students interested in the Greek Major must complete 8 courses, 7 of which must be in Greek.

  • CLAS 200: Introduction to Classical Studies
  • CLAS 201: Classics Seminar

Requirements for the Greek Minor:

Students interested in the Greek Minor must complete the following, as well as 4 courses, 3 of which must be in Greek.

  • CLAS 200 Introduction to Classical Studies

Highly recommended courses:

  • CLAS 211G: History of Greece
  • CLAS 230G: Classical Mythology

Requirements for the Latin Major:

Students interested in the Latin major must complete 8 courses, 7 of which must be in Latin.

  • CLAS 200: Introduction to Classical Studies
  • CLAS 201: Classics Seminar

Requirements for the Latin Minor:

Students interested in the Latin Minor must complete the following, as well as 4 courses, 3 of which must be in Latin.

  • CLAS 200 Introduction to Classical Studies
