These courses encourage an exploration of one's own and others' ideas about the ultimate meaning and purpose of our lives. Courses will be taught from philosophical, religious, artistic, and scientific perspectives. To be taken in the junior year.
- Students will have knowledge of multiple answers to at least one significant question of meaning and value.
- Students will be able to give a personal and critical analysis of expressions of meaning and value encountered in the course.
- Students will be able to articulate an understanding of the historical-cultural-social contexts of ideas explored in the course.
- Students will be able to articulate their own views (however nascent) concerning questions of the meaning and purpose of their own lives.
