Supplemental Instruction (SI) is a peer-led, academic assistance program offered in especially difficult courses. SI leaders are students who have taken the course before and performed well. As SI leaders, they sit in on the class again and host thrice-weekly study sessions. Additionally, they hold office hours during which they are available to offer additional help.
Students can attend as many supplemental instruction sessions as they like, but would gain the most benefit from attending as often as possible. Attendance at sessions is voluntary.
SI was founded at the University of Missouri-Kansas City and more information about the program can be found on their website.
