Jake McLean '15
“I think I have become a more mature person. I have more of an open mind on a lot of different things and I've challenged myself to become a better person through service and philanthropic work.” So says Jake McLean, a Spanish major from Silvis, Ill.
Hometown: Silvis, Illinois
Class Year: 2015
One of MC’s most active students, McLean has served as a resident assistant, Scot Ambassador, PR director for the Student Alumni Association, Rotaract president, Interfraternity Council secretary and Student Affairs representative to the Associated Students of Monmouth College.
He attributes most of his growth, however, to involvement with his fraternity, Phi Gamma Delta, for which he has served as corresponding secretary, recording secretary and president.
“Having the support that I do from my brothers is the best,” he notes. McLean also holds a high regard for his academics. His favorite college course has been Intermediate Spanish, of which he remarks, “Classes that are fun--like that one was--help me focus more on the content of the class.”
McLean is eyeing a career in college student personnel. Judging from his experience at Monmouth, he will be well prepared.
