Housing and Meal Plans
The Office of Residence Life & Housing strives to compliment the College’s educational mission by providing quality out-of-class learning experiences through programming for students in the residence halls. There is no better place to do this than in our residence halls.
A variety of medical illnesses, disabilities and psychological conditions may necessitate special consideration in the housing assignment process or a release from the housing contract or meal plan. A few examples of disability related considerations in residence halls or rooms are the following:
- An air-conditioned residence hall
- A residence hall with an elevator
- A residence hall with an accessible washroom
- A single room
Founders, Bowers, North and Peterson Halls have central air conditioning. Buildings that do not accommodate air conditioning include Cleland and Liedman Halls.
The College provides air conditioning units to students with a documented disability and for whom air conditioning is an appropriate accommodation in McMichael, Grier, Fulton, Graham, Winbigler, the Fraternity Complex, and the theme houses.
To request special housing accommodations due to a disability, students should review the guidelines for housing accommodations, and complete the necessary paperwork for submission to Residence Life.
Every effort is made to accommodate students’ special needs within our housing system and food service plan using the alternatives available. Keep in mind the College meal plan contract does not permit releases based on religious dictates, personal food choice or preferences (i.e. vegetarianism), or other non-medically-based, dietary requirements.
