Award Criteria

Student Nomination Criteria Annual Awards Banquet

Once you have reviewed the criteria for the awards, complete the nomination form for each nominee.

Nominations are due Monday, April 17, 2017 by 5:00pm.

Leader of the Year

This leader is an exceptional leader. Their leadership was noticed by many people in their committee, club or a team. They are seen as a role model to underclassmen and peers. They exemplify service and leadership. This leader encourages and helps others learn exemplary leadership and communication skills not just by example but through actively utilizing the skills of others for the betterment of all.

  • Represented inclusivity
  • Help organize students
  • Promoted awareness and demonstrated willingness to help in organizing students and programs
  • Provided leadership in a student organization that worked with Intercultural Life in some capacity
  • Enhances the quality of campus life for multicultural students by providing help to new and or current students
  • Collaborates with students and/or faculty and staff on various multicultural projects.
  • They have been involved in community service opportunities
  • The service provided by this student was:
    • Inclusive
    • Timely
    • Organized
    • Delivered enthusiastically
    • Promoted student involvement and diversity
    • Made other leaders feel as though they were part of a team or family

Outstanding Peer Mentor

This award honors a student who demonstrates a commitment to helping new students adjust and continues to be a source of encouragement and help for new students in various ways, such as regular contact with students, checking on how they are doing, offering to help and give advice where needed and provided leadership in various ways to students.

  • Enhances the quality of campus life for multicultural students by providing help (any) to new students
  • Followed up with new students and helped with their transition and connections with their (Monmouth) College life
  • Mentored students on various aspects on college life with tips and suggestions on how to succeed
  • Remained in contact and helpful throughout the academic year

Outstanding Intercultural Life Student Leader(s) Award (maximum of 5)

This award honors a student who demonstrates outstanding service that contributes significantly to Intercultural Life on campus. The successful nominees for this award have engaged in some or all of the following service activity on campus:

  • Represented inclusivity
  • Help organize students through various committees or organization or club programs
  • Promoted awareness as an ambassador for Intercultural Life, through various means, such as, attending Intercultural Life sponsored programs.
  • Provided leadership in New Beginnings program, International Student Orientation, working for the Office of Intercultural Life, Intercultural Life Student Committee, activities, and/ or programs
  • Enhances the quality of campus life for multicultural students by providing help to new and or current students
  • Collaborates with students and/or faculty and staff on various Intercultural Life projects
  • They have been involved in off campus and on campus community service opportunities
  • The service provided by this student was:
    • Timely
    • Organized
    • Delivered enthusiastically
    • Promoted student involvement
    • Mature

Outstanding Intercultural Student Organization Award

This award honors the student group/organization/committee that s programing this year exemplified service. They had significant involvement with the community on and off campus.

  • Had a program addressed current issues and needs of Monmouth College community
  • Had a program that got involved with the City of Monmouth Community
  • Had a program where the funds raised went to another non for profit organization, and individual in need, or a community that had a financial need
  • Collaborated with community organizers and groups

Programing Excellence Award

This award honors the student group/organization/committee that puts out a program which contributed significantly to cultural enrichment of campus life at Monmouth College. The following list includes the criteria that define an outstanding program:

  • A program addressed current issues and needs of Monmouth College community
  • A program included collaboration within the group, with other students, staff or faculty advisor(s)
  • The programing and its presenters helped promote student involvement
  • The programing identified and targeted a primary audiences
  • The programing elicited a positive responses from participants
  • The programmers demonstrated some or all of the following abilities: organization, budgeting, marketing, creativity, communication, problem solving and time management

Organization Excellence Award

This award honors a group that has been involved with the Office of Intercultural life in at least one capacity, demonstrates quality leadership, effective team work and contributes in a significant way to improve the quality of Intercultural life at Monmouth College A successful nominee for this award demonstrates some or all of the following qualities:

  • Connects with other student leaders, staff and faculty through various means, such as ASMC/Office of Intercultural Life collaborative programming, involving advisors, and communication with the Offices of Intercultural Life and Student Affairs
  • Effectively involves all members of the group in decisions, programs, meetings and events
  • Creates an inviting, inclusive atmosphere through recruitment practices
  • Actively supports the mission of Monmouth College and the Office of Intercultural Life.
  • Has at least one of each of the following types of programs: One involving the community/ community service; campus wide entertainment, campus wide educational, campus wide collaboration with the IC Life office, & campus wide fundraising

Outstanding Intercultural Life Student Organization Award (chosen by the office of Intercultural Life)

This award honors an intercultural life student organization that demonstrates quality leadership, effective team work and contributes in a significant way to improve the quality of Intercultural life at Monmouth College. A successful nominee for this award demonstrates some or all of the following qualities:

  • Connects with other student leaders, staff and faculty through various means, such as ASMC/Office of Intercultural Life collaborative programming, involving advisors, and communication with the Offices of Intercultural Life and Student Affairs, and community partners
  • Effectively involves all members of the group in decisions, programs, meetings, and events
  • Creates an inviting, inclusive atmosphere through recruitment practices
  • Has beneficial and educational events open to the whole campus and / or community
  • Actively supports the mission of Monmouth College and the Office of Intercultural Life

Academic Excellence

The Office of Intercultural Life honors the academic achievements of students, and recognizes and honors the students who made the dean’s list.

Athletic Excellence

These awards go to students who have excelled in athletics and are in good academic standing. These students have been able to balance all and excelled in their respective athletic fields. The Office of Intercultural Life has worked with these students in different areas of Intercultural life, either through a student organization, a committee, or they work for the office they have been a part of Intercultural Life and the office will recognize their achievements. (Nominated by the Athletics Department)
