Spring Orientation - Scots Welcome Week

January 12-13, 2019

Spring Orientation is a two-day program designed for newly admitted students to Monmouth College for the spring semester. Forge your own path for a successful Monmouth College experience.

Spring Orientation helps you:

  • Meet other new students, faculty and staff
  • Learn about resources available to support you
  • Learn about living at Monmouth College
  • Get introduced to the academic program, policies, curriculum and degree requirements
  • Get your Scots ID card and parking permit

Schedules

Saturday, January 12
Time Event Location
9am-12pm All New Students Check-In for Orientation
and Residence Hall Move-In
Students will receive an Orientation packet and directions to the residence halls.
Stockdale Student Center: Lobby
11am-1pm Lunch
No charge for students. Guests cost $8.00 each
Stockdale Student Center: Scots Dining, Main Level
3pm-4pm Tour of the Town
Jump on the shuttle bus and explore Monmouth, known as the Maple City. We will show you locations of a few important places, including grocery stores, Shopko, Walgreens, the health clinic and a few local restaurants.
Shuttle leaves promptly at 3pm in front of the Stockdale Student Center
4:30pm-5pm ResLife 101
Meet the Residence Life staff to learn what you’ll love about your new Scots home. Hear tips and tricks for navigating new experiences, such as having a roommate, doing laundry, following policies and connecting with others in your building.
The Head Resident’s apartment in your residence hall
5pm-6pm Dinner with Your Resident Assistant
(for on-campus students)
Head over to Stockdale and enjoy your first “official”
campus dining experience

7pm-9:30pm The Galesburg Trek
If interested, jump on the shuttle and head to the town of Galesburg with a stop at Walmart, where you can pick up groceries and supplies.

9:30–10:30 a.m. Bring Your "A" Game
Join us as we discuss how the academic side of campus works. This interactive presentation will answer your questions on how to be successful as you plan towards your degree, prepare for course registration and utilize academic support services.
Center for Science and Business: Room 286
10:30–11:30 a.m. Campus Walkabout
With schedules in hand we will find out where your classes
are located. We will stop by the Huff Athletic Center to
meet the Director of Wellness and end at the Stockdale
Student Center to learn about co-curricular opportunities
Leave from Center for Science and Business, Room 286
11:30am-12:30pm Scot-to-Scot Welcome Lunch

to know new students, faculty members and your
Orientation Leaders, who will provide insider tips on
navigating life at Monmouth College.
